I've found that the challenges of piano tuning and servicing will continue to provide me with a lifetime of exploration and this has enticed me into its grasp.
Servicing pianos has given me a balance of practical/hands-on skill development which offsets the social work that I do.
Mostly, I'm having fun doing both and I love the fact that I can help folks to reach their potential; in life-goals and in their pursuit of beautiful music-making.
I was mentored under a 30-year-veteran piano technician by the name of Wayne Dunbar of the Chesterville area. I will always be grateful to Wayne for introducing me to piano technology and for taking me under his wing.
I also studied under piano rebuider Serge Deforges who specialized in restoring Steinway grand pianos. Serge is the bravest technician that I know and he openly shares his insights with other technicians.
Being an active member of the Piano Technician's Guild (PTG) has been a key component to my growth and development over the years. I'm also an executive council member of the Canadian Association of Piano Technicians (CAPT.) These professional associations are founded upon continual learning throughout one's career and buiding upon the networking of professional tuners/technicians.
